Attire/Safety/Behavior

Attire

  • Clothing - By the second lesson, all students must come prepared with proper leotards, tights and shoes. All Ballet students must wear ballet pink tights, pink ballet slippers and a black leotard. All other classes must have solid colored leotard and suntan tights. Please follow the appropriate dress code. No tee shirts or sweatshirts allowed in class. The student will need to remove them before class begins and leave them in the waiting area. Removing this clothing is for the students' own protection and progress. Correct body placement cannot be corrected with baggy or loose fitting shirts on.
  • Labeling - Please label all belongings, articles of clothing as well as dance shoes. Dance shoes are not allowed to be worn outside the studio.
  • Lost and Found Box - The lost and found box is located in the waiting room at the studio. It contains items that students have left after classes. These items are disposed of after one month, so please check it periodically.

Safety

  • Hair - Hair must be securely tied back in buns or braids. Flying hair or hair in the face causes safety issues and can cause injury to the eyes as well as loss of concentration. Hair spray, hair gel and hair nets work well for buns. Hair bun holders are available for sale at the studio. Please no pony tails.
  • Jewelry - No jewelry is allowed. No oversized earrings, no bracelets or necklaces. If worn, jewelry will be taken off your child and cannot be guaranteed to be returned. The studio is not responsible for the personal items of your child.
  • Parking Lot Safety - Parking (Courtesy and our children's safety are our greatest concern!) Please use caution and drive slowly! LIVE PARKING NEAR THE BUILDING IS PROHIBITED. Children sometimes run out into the parking lot after class to meet their ride. It would be disastrous if a child was hit by a car. Please park in the designated parking areas only. PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD IN THE NO PARKING ZONE IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE.
  • Liability - Deborah's Dance Workshop and/or its instructors shall not be liable or responsible for any injuries incurred at the School, on its property or at any of its performances, competitions and workshops.

Behavior

The studio deals with children of all ages, from babies to young adults and parents. The actions of all create significant impressions whick are judged instantly. Therefore, proper behavior is expected by all representing the studio; i.e., classes, competition, etc. Be considerate and respectful in your speech and actions towards everyone, so you will be treated in the same manner as well. Parents and young adults do serve as role models for others, especially the younger children.

Food In the Waiting Area

Food & drink are allowed in the waiting room. We realize that after school snacks are a reward for a long day at school and that dinner is essential. However, please respect others at the studio as well as the studio property. Our helpers work very hard to keep the studio spotless but find their jobs very difficult and time-consuming when they have to pick up after those eating in the waiting area. Trash receptacles are available in that room for your convenience. Please be considerate and clean when you are finished by disposing of your trash as well as crumbs that fall to the floor. Please be thoughtful and attentive to your surroundings and help keep the studio neat. THANKS
