Stephanie Martus, Faculty Member

Stephanie has been dancing since the age of 3. She participated in competition for 14 years receiving numerous awards including the “Star Quality” award in 2004. She has training in Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, African, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics.

She studied at the Dancer’s Studio Shoreline for 15 years as well as the New Haven Ballet, Broadway Dance Center, and 3 summers with the Virginia Ballet Theatre. She participated in a master Tap class with Gregory Hines at the age of 11.
Stephanie has performed various roles in the Nutcracker; including the flower trio along side Julie Kent, as well as The Snow Queen, Coppelia, and Swan Lake. She was also a member of the Power Groove Dancers for Explosive Entertainment, performing at Foxwoods.

In 1998 she and 13 other dancers won the Junior World Tap Dance Championships in Slovenia, Europe. She has also won Miss Talent America, Miss Small Fry Charm, Miss Princess Charm, and Miss Junior America.

By day she works at American Medical Response as a dispatcher in New Haven. She has completed her Dance Certificate at Naugatuck Valley Community College and is now studying at Lincoln College of New England in Southington for her Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene.
