Keely Reed, Faculty Member

Keely is currently celebrating her 18th year with Deborah’s Dance Workshop. She has taken many master classes in Tap and Jazz in New York City at the Broadway Dance Center with Frank Hatchett, Sheila Barker, Crystal Chapman and Ms. Tracy. She has also taken master Tap classes with Tony Waag, Anthony Lacasio, Brenda Bufalino and Claire O'Donnell. She has studied Jazz with Bill Hotaling of The Manhattan Dance Project for many years.

For the past six summers she attended the “For Teachers Only” seminar hosted by Dance Teacher Magazine in New York City. Classes were offered in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Nutrition, Anatomy, Musical Theater, Floor Barre Technique, Ballet and many more.

In the summer of 2005 she was the tap instructor for Earl Mosley’s Greenhouse Project, a two month dance intensive in Litchfield, CT. Keely was also a featured dance performer in the production of "Phantom" at the Warner Theatre and has competed in many regional and national dance competitions receiving numerous awards. She has also won many awards for original choreography.

Keely graduated in May 2010 from Saint Joseph’s College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and plans to attend graduate school in the fall. While studying at Saint Joseph’s, her courses included "Discovering Dance" which is an introduction to dance through movement exploration, videos, lectures and discussions with special emphasis on the role of dance in human culture. Another course included modern dance technique which studies dance movement in terms of body placement, flexibility and control, kinesthetic awareness, rhythm dynamics and dance phrases as well as classical ballet.
