Julie has been studying dance at Deborah’s
Dance Workshop since the age of 2½. During those years, she
has competed in many regional and national dance competitions throughout
New England and has won numerous awards. At the American Miss National
finals competition in Cape Cod, Julie was awarded the prestigious
honor of “Contestant of the Year”. The reason she was
chosen was because she exemplified all the characteristics that
a student competitor should posses i.e., good sportsmanship, talent,
amiability among peers, team spirit, etc.
Julie has also attended the Manhattan Dance Project Seminar during
the summer of 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona with Ballet classes offered
by Michael Vernon, Tap with Abron Glover and Musical Theater Fosse
style with Bill Hastings. During the winter of 2003, she attended
a four day winter intensive Jazz/Hip-Hop seminar with many well
known choreographers/Jazz instructors at the Broadway Dance Center.
Several times a year, she attends classes at the Broadway Dance
Center with instructors such as Frank Hatchett, Chio, Chuck Kelley,
Leslie Feliciano, Sheila Barker, David Howard and Derek Mitchell
to further her studies in Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet and Acrobatics.
Also she participates in several workshops throughout Connecticut
with instructors Steve Sirico, Jeff Shade and Bill Hotaling.
During the summers of 2007 and 2009, Julie attended a week long
intensive seminar hosted by “The Pulse” in New York
City which included many master classes in all phases of Jazz, Contemporary,
Hip Hop and Ballet/Lyrical taught by well known choreographers from
Broadway as well as Movie Greats and TV personalities such as the
faculty and judges from “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Julie attends Northwestern Connecticut Community College majoring
in Early Childhood Education.
